Ingredients:
- 1 ½ cups (180 g) all-purpose flour
- ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
- ¼ cup (50 g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg yolk
- 2 tablespoons cold water
- 3 medium apples (e.g., Granny Smith or Honeycrisp), peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1 cup (120 g) pecans, roughly chopped
- ¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour and sugar.
- Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Mix in the egg yolk and cold water until a dough forms.
- Shape into a disk, wrap in plastic, and chill for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to fit the tart pan.
- Transfer to the pan, pressing it into the edges. Trim any excess.
- In a mixing bowl, toss apple slices with lemon juice, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Stir in the chopped pecans and melted butter.
- Spread the apple-pecan mixture evenly over the crust.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 35-45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
- Allow the tart to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing and serving.
