Ingredients:

  • 3 ½ cups (450g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp or 7g) instant yeast
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) whole milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips or chopped chocolate
  • 1/4 cup (50g) brown sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (30g) powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • 2 tbsp (30ml) milk or cream (for icing)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth.
  5. Roll the dough into a rectangle (approximately 12x18 inches).
  6. Spread melted chocolate evenly over the dough, sprinkle with brown sugar and drizzle with vanilla extract.
  7. Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut into 12 equal pieces.
  8. Place buns on a lined baking sheet, leaving space for expansion.
  9. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Optional: Mix powdered sugar and milk for icing, drizzle over warm buns, and enjoy!
