Ingredients:

  • 2 ¾ cups (330g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ½ cup (100g) brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Gel food coloring (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a stand mixer, cream together softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, followed by vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients until just combined.
  6. Divide the dough into six equal parts. Add a different gel food color to each section and mix until the colors are vibrant.
  7. Wrap each colored dough in plastic wrap and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  8. Roll small portions of each colored dough into balls and mix them together to create a marbled effect. Place them on prepared baking sheets.
  9. Bake in preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until cookies are lightly golden. They will firm up as they cool.
  10. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
