Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (500g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • 2 tbsp (25g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp (5g) salt
  • 1 cup (240ml) warm milk (about 110°F/43°C)
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 2 tbsp (30g) unsalted butter, melted for brushing
  • Coarse sea salt, for sprinkling

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and beaten eggs.
  3. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let rise in a warm place until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
  6. Punch down the dough, then divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball.
  7. Place shaped rolls on a baking sheet lined with parchment, cover, and let rise again for about 30 minutes.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Brush tops with melted butter if desired.
  10. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
