Ingredients:

  • 1 pound (454g) Ground Beef (80/20 blend recommended for flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Olive Oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) Onion Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon (2.5g) Smoked Paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) Salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) Black Pepper
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) Mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) Ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Yellow Mustard
  • 1 tablespoon (15ml) Sweet Pickle Relish
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) White Vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon (1.25g) Garlic Powder
  • Pinch of Paprika
  • 8 cups (approx. 2 liters) Shredded Lettuce (Iceberg or Romaine, or a mix)
  • 1 cup (113g) Shredded Cheddar Cheese
  • 1/2 cup (approx. 75g) Diced Tomato
  • 1/2 cup (approx. 75g) Diced Red Onion
  • 1/2 cup (approx. 75g) Sliced Dill Pickles (or Sweet Pickles, if preferred)
  • Optional: Sesame Seeds, for garnish
  • Optional: Crumbled cooked bacon

Instructions:

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and break it up with a spoon. Season with onion powder, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Cook, stirring occasionally, until browned and cooked through (internal temperature of 160°F/71°C). Drain off any excess grease.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, ketchup, yellow mustard, pickle relish, white vinegar, garlic powder, and paprika until smooth.
  3. In a large bowl, combine shredded lettuce, cooked ground beef, cheddar cheese, diced tomato, diced red onion, and sliced pickles.
  4. Pour the special sauce over the salad and toss gently to combine. Garnish with sesame seeds and/or bacon crumbles (if using). Serve immediately.
