Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 3/4 cup whole milk or buttermilk
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
- Add the milk gradually, mixing until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.
- Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
- Serve warm with butter or your favorite topping.
