Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 3/4 cup whole milk or buttermilk

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
  3. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in the shredded cheese until evenly distributed.
  5. Add the milk gradually, mixing until just combined.
  6. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead a few times until smooth.
  7. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  8. Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown on top.
  10. Serve warm with butter or your favorite topping.
