Ingredients:

  • 2 teaspoons matcha powder (about 5g)
  • 1 cup (240ml) hot water (not boiling, about 80°C or 175°F)
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk of your choice (dairy, almond, oat, etc.)
  • 1-2 tablespoons (15-30g) sweetener (honey, maple syrup, or sugar; adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes (enough to fill two glasses)

Instructions:

  1. Place matcha powder into a small bowl or mug. Add hot water gradually (not boiling) to the matcha. Using a whisk, mix vigorously in a zig-zag motion until smooth and frothy.
  2. Add your preferred sweetener to the whisked matcha. Stir until completely combined and dissolved.
  3. Fill each glass halfway with ice cubes. Pour the milk of your choice over the ice in each glass.
  4. Gently pour the whisked matcha on top of the milk in each glass. Stir lightly to combine before serving, leaving a beautiful layered effect.
  5. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of matcha on top before serving.
