Ingredients:

  • 6 cups tart apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (e.g., Granny Smith)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup old-fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a mixing bowl, toss the sliced apples with granulated sugar, cinnamon, lemon juice, and flour until well coated.
  3. In another mixing bowl, combine the oats, flour, brown sugar, melted butter, salt, and cinnamon. Mix until crumbly.
  4. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the bottom of the baking dish. Top with the oat mixture, spreading it evenly over the apples.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 35-40 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are bubbling.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving, preferably with ice cream or whipped cream.
