Ingredients:
- 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed and cut into 1-inch pieces
- 1 can cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
- 1 cup French-fried onions
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bring a pot of salted water to a boil, add green beans and cook for 3-5 minutes until bright green and tender-crisp. Drain and set aside.
- In a large bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Whisk until smooth.
- Add the blanched green beans and shredded cheese (if using) to the sauce mixture. Stir until well coated.
- Pour the green bean mixture into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
- In a separate bowl, mix French-fried onions with panko breadcrumbs. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until heated through and topping is golden brown.
- Remove from oven and let cool for a few minutes. Serve warm.
