Classic Ricotta Cheese Mixture in Lasagna: My Family’s Comfort Food

Ingredients

  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

🥄 Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, basil, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and set aside.
  3. Boil water in a large pot and cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on a clean surface.
  4. Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce at the bottom of the baking dish. Place 4 noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of marinara sauce and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Finish with a final layer of noodles, topped with marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
  5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  6. Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
