Ingredients:
- 15 oz ricotta cheese
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 12 lasagna noodles (uncooked)
- 3 cups marinara sauce
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, Parmesan cheese, salt, basil, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and set aside.
- Boil water in a large pot and cook lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and lay flat on a clean surface.
- Spread 1 cup of marinara sauce at the bottom of the baking dish. Place 4 noodles over the sauce. Spread half of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1 cup of marinara sauce and 1 cup of mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering until all ingredients are used. Finish with a final layer of noodles, topped with marinara sauce and remaining mozzarella.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Let the lasagna cool for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Garnish with fresh parsley.
