Ingredients:

  • 5 fl oz Fresh Lemon Juice (about 15 ml)
  • 1 Tbsp Runny Honey (about 20 g)
  • 5 fl oz Good Quality Whisky (about 45 ml)
  • 6 fl oz Freshly Boiled Water (about 180 ml)
  • 1 Cinnamon Stick (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 Lemon Wheel or Slice (optional, for garnish)
  • 2–3 Whole Cloves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Vessel: Place the heatproof glass mug on the countertop. Temper the glass by rinsing it quickly with a dash of very hot (but not boiling) water and discarding the rinse water. This prevents cracking.
  2. Build the Base: Add the measured runny honey and fresh lemon juice to the bottom of the pre-warmed mug.
  3. Dissolve the Honey: Pour about 1-2 tablespoons (15-30ml) of the freshly boiled water directly onto the honey and lemon mixture. Stir vigorously until the honey is completely dissolved and no sticky residue remains.
  4. Add the Spirit: Measure and pour the 1.5 fl oz (45 ml) of whisky into the mug.
  5. Top Up: Carefully pour the remaining hot water (150-165 ml) into the mug until the desired fill level is reached, leaving a small gap at the top.
  6. Garnish and Serve: Stud the lemon wheel with the cloves (if using) and place it gently on the surface of the drink. Add the cinnamon stick for stirring. Serve immediately while still piping hot.
