Ingredients:

  • 4 cups (950ml) Water
  • 1 Orange, sliced
  • 1 Apple, sliced
  • 2 Cinnamon Sticks
  • 1 tablespoon Whole Cloves
  • 1 teaspoon Nutmeg, ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon Ginger, ground
  • 1/4 cup Cranberries (optional)
  • 2-3 Star Anise (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In the saucepan, combine water, orange slices, apple slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, nutmeg, and ginger. Add cranberries and star anise, if using.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Once boiling, immediately reduce the heat to low and allow the stovetop potpourri to simmer gently.
  4. Check the water level periodically (every 30-60 minutes) and add more water as needed.
  5. Continue to simmer the potpourri for 1-4 hours, or as long as desired. The longer it simmers, the stronger the scent will become.
