Ingredients:

  • 2 tsp instant coffee granules
  • 1/4 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract
  • pinch of cocoa powder (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place the instant coffee granules in your mug and pour in the boiling water. Stir vigorously until the granules are completely dissolved and the liquid appears dark and glossy.
  2. Pour the almond milk, vanilla, and maple syrup into a mason jar or separate container.
  3. Heat in the microwave for 45–60 seconds until steaming but NOT boiling. Note: Boiling will cause the milk to separate.
  4. Screw the lid on the jar tight and shake violently for 30 seconds.
  5. If using a frother, submerge the wand and tilt the cup to create a vortex until the milk doubles in volume.
  6. Slowly pour the aerated almond milk over the coffee base.
  7. Hold back the foam with a spoon until the cup is nearly full.
  8. Dollop the remaining velvety foam on top.
  9. Dust with a pinch of cocoa powder if you want a little extra flair.
