Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs Russet potatoes
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp avocado oil
  • 1 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp smoked paprika

Instructions:

  1. Peel the potatoes and slice them into uniform 1/2 inch thick sticks.
  2. Submerge the cut potatoes in a bowl of ice-cold water for at least 30 minutes to remove surface starch.
  3. Drain the potatoes and lay them out on a clean kitchen towel. Pat them until they are completely bone-dry.
  4. Transfer dried potatoes to a bowl and toss with cornstarch until a thin, even film forms.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 380°F. Lightly coat the starched potatoes with avocado oil and seasonings (salt, garlic powder, and smoked paprika).
  6. Arrange potatoes in the air fryer basket without overcrowding. Air fry for 10 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes.
  7. Continue cooking for another 8 to 10 minutes, or until the fries are deep golden brown and crisp. Total cook time depends on your specific air fryer model.
