Ingredients:
- 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
- 1½ teaspoons baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 5 large eggs, separated
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- ½ cup (120ml) whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup (240ml) evaporated milk
- 1 cup (240ml) sweetened condensed milk
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (240ml) heavy whipping cream
- 2 tablespoons (25g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh berries or fruit (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In another bowl, beat egg yolks and half the sugar until light and fluffy. Stir in milk and vanilla. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet ingredients. In a separate bowl, whip egg whites until soft peaks form, gradually adding the rest of the sugar, and then gently fold into the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and smooth the top. Bake for 25-30 minutes, until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together evaporated milk, sweetened condensed milk, and heavy cream.
- Once baked, allow the cake to cool slightly, then pierce the surface with a fork or skewer. Gradually pour the milk mixture over the warm cake, ensuring it absorbs well. Let it cool completely, then refrigerate for at least one hour.
- In a mixing bowl, whip heavy cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form.
- Spread whipped cream over the chilled cake and top with fresh berries if desired. Cut into squares and enjoy!
