Ingredients:
- 1 lb refrigerated pizza dough (thin crust style)
- 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
- 65 slices turkey pepperoni
- 1 cup part-skim mozzarella cheese, finely shredded
- 0.5 cup low-sodium marinara sauce
- 1 tsp dried Italian seasoning
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- 5 leaves fresh basil
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a standard 12-cup muffin tin.
- On a surface lightly dusted with 2 tbsp flour, roll the pizza dough into a 12x18 inch rectangle.
- Using a pizza cutter, slice the dough vertically into 12 even strips, approximately 1 inch wide each.
- Spread approximately 2 teaspoons of marinara sauce along the bottom half of each dough strip.
- Layer 5-6 turkey pepperoni slices along the top edge of the dough so they overlap and hang halfway off the top edge.
- Sprinkle shredded mozzarella and Italian seasoning along the center of the strip.
- Fold the bottom half of the dough upward over the cheese, then roll the strip tightly from one end to the other to form the rose shape.
- Place each rose into a muffin cup. Brush the exposed dough with beaten egg and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese.
- Bake for 15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and pepperoni edges are crisp. Garnish with fresh basil leaves.
