Ingredients:

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup (115g) unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk, chilled
  • Butter, jam, or honey for spreading

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cut in the cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Gradually add in buttermilk, mixing until just combined (do not overmix).
  5. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead 2-3 times.
  6. Roll or pat the dough to about 1-inch thickness.
  7. Cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter and place on a baking sheet.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with butter or your favorite spread.
