Ingredients:
- 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (5g) active dry yeast
- ¾ teaspoon (4g) salt
- ¾ cup (180ml) warm water (about 110°F / 43°C)
- 1 tablespoon (12g) sugar
- 4 tablespoons (½ stick / 56g) unsalted butter, melted
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) olive oil
- 1 teaspoon (2g) dried oregano (optional)
- 2 tablespoons (30ml) fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
- Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
Instructions:
- In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit until frothy, about 5-10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center, then add the yeast mixture. Mix until a rough dough forms, then knead on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
- Roll dough into a rope about 10 inches long, then tie it into a knot. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Repeat with remaining dough.
- In a small bowl, mix melted butter, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, and red pepper flakes.
- Brush knots with garlic butter. Bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown.
- Remove from oven and brush with any remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve warm.
