Ingredients:
- 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced (about 1 kg)
- ¼ cup (50 g) brown sugar
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- ½ tsp ground nutmeg
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (or arrowroot powder, for thickening)
- 1 cup (100 g) gluten-free rolled oats
- ¾ cup (75 g) almond flour (or gluten-free flour blend)
- ½ cup (100 g) coconut sugar or brown sugar
- ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil for dairy-free)
- ½ tsp salt
- ¼ cup (60 ml) maple syrup (optional for added sweetness)
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Peel, core, and slice the apples. In a mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and cornstarch. Toss to coat evenly. Transfer the apple mixture to the baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix the oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, and salt. Stir in the melted butter (or coconut oil) and mix until crumbly. Add maple syrup if desired.
- Evenly sprinkle the topping over the apple mixture in the baking dish.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes until the apples are bubbly and the topping is golden brown.
- Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving with ice cream or whipped cream.
