Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1.5 - 2 pounds flank steak, trimmed

Instructions:

  1. Combine soy sauce, olive oil, red wine vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, black pepper, and red pepper flakes in a bowl.
  2. Place flank steak in a zip-top bag or dish. Pour marinade over the meat. Seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. Preheat your grill to high heat (around 450 - 500°F or 230 - 260°C).
  4. Remove steak from marinade and shake off excess. Place it on the hot grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, then flip.
  5. Grill for an additional 4-5 minutes on the other side, or until the internal temperature reaches 130-135°F for medium-rare. Use meat thermometer for accuracy.
  6. Remove from grill and let rest for 5-10 minutes. Slice against the grain for the best texture.
