Ingredients:

  • 4 (6-oz) salmon fillets
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 3 cloves minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Pat the salmon fillets bone-dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  3. Place salmon skin-side down, press firmly with a spatula for 10 seconds, and cook undisturbed for 4-5 minutes until the skin is golden.
  4. Flip the fillets and reduce the heat to medium.
  5. Add the butter and garlic to the pan, stirring for 30 seconds until the butter smells nutty.
  6. Stir in the honey, soy sauce, and lemon juice.
  7. Continuously baste the salmon with the bubbling sauce for 2-3 minutes until the fillets are mahogany-colored and opaque.
