Ingredients:

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons honey, preferably raw
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over high heat.
  2. While the water is boiling, grate the fresh ginger.
  3. Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat. Add the grated ginger to the hot water. Stir in the honey until fully dissolved.
  4. Let the mixture steep for about 5 minutes.
  5. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into mugs or a heatproof container. Stir in the lemon juice and cayenne pepper, if using.
  6. Serve hot. Enjoy immediately for best results.
