Ingredients:
- 5 whole vanilla beans (preferably Grade A)
- 1 cup (240 ml) of sugar (granulated or brown)
- ½ cup (120 ml) of water
- 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of corn syrup (optional, for added consistency)
Instructions:
- Using a sharp knife, slice each vanilla bean lengthwise to expose the seeds. Scrape the seeds into a small bowl and set aside.
- In a small saucepan, add the scraped vanilla beans, seeds, sugar, water, and corn syrup (if using).
- Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.
- Allow the mixture to simmer for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Remove from heat and let it cool before transferring to a glass jar or container. Allow the paste to thicken as it cools, then seal tightly for storage.
