Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/4 cup cold water
  • 3 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 can Mountain Dew
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Cut in butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Slowly add cold water until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill for at least 15 minutes.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix apple slices, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the chilled dough to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut into 6 squares.
  4. Place a portion of the apple filling in the center of each dough square. Fold the corners over the filling and pinch to seal.
  5. Preheat your oven to 350°F. Arrange dumplings in a greased baking dish.
  6. In a bowl, combine melted butter and Mountain Dew, then pour over dumplings.
  7. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until dumplings are golden and apples are tender.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Optional: drizzle with remaining sauce.
