Ingredients:
- 1 cup basmati rice (190 g)
- 1.5 cups water (360 ml)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter or vegetable oil (15 g)
- ½ teaspoon salt (2 g, optional)
Instructions:
- Place the basmati rice in a fine-mesh sieve and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- Transfer the rinsed rice to a bowl, cover with water, and let it soak for about 30 minutes to enhance the texture.
- After soaking, drain the rice again in the sieve to remove any excess water.
- In a medium saucepan, add 1.5 cups of water and bring to a boil. If desired, add butter and salt to the water.
- Once the water is boiling, add the soaked and drained basmati rice.
- Stir briefly, then cover with the lid. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
- After 15 minutes, remove the pan from the heat and let it sit, covered, for 5 minutes. Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
