Ingredients:
- 1 cup (200g) white long grain rice
- 2 cups (480ml) water
- 1 tablespoon (15ml) unsalted butter or olive oil (optional)
- ½ teaspoon (3g) salt (optional)
Instructions:
- Place the rice in a fine-mesh strainer and rinse under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.
- In a medium saucepan, combine rinsed rice, water, and optional salt and butter/oil.
- Over medium-high heat, bring the mixture to a boil.
- Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice absorbs all the water. Use a timer for accuracy.
- Remove from heat and let sit, covered, for 5 minutes.
- Use a fork to fluff the rice before serving.
