Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon Coarse Sea Salt (or kosher salt)
- 1 teaspoon Granulated Sugar
- 1 Lime Wedge (for moistening the rim)
- 2 fluid ounces (60 mL) Premium Tequila (Reposado or Añejo)
- 1 fluid ounce (30 mL) Freshly Squeezed Lime Juice
- 5 fluid ounce (15 mL) Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
- Ice cubes (for shaking and serving)
- 75 fluid ounce (22 mL) Grand Marnier (or premium Cointreau)
Instructions:
- On a small, flat plate, mix the coarse salt and sugar thoroughly to create the rim seasoning.
- Take the lime wedge and rub it around the outer edge of the serving glass rim. Rub only half the rim if preferred, giving the drinker a choice.
- Gently dip the moistened rim into the salt/sugar mixture, twisting slightly to ensure an even coat. Set the glass aside and fill it with large, clean ice cubes.
- Pour the Tequila, Fresh Lime Juice, and Agave Nectar directly into the cocktail shaker. Hold back the Grand Marnier for the final float.
- Fill the shaker 2/3 full with fresh ice (do not use the ice from the serving glass). Seal the shaker tightly and shake vigorously for about 15–20 seconds until the outside of the tin is thoroughly frosted.
- Open the shaker and fine-strain the chilled cocktail mixture directly into the prepared serving glass over the fresh ice.
- Slowly pour the measured Grand Marnier (0.75 fl oz) over the back of a spoon held just above the drink’s surface. This technique allows the liqueur to rest in a distinct layer on top of the mixed ingredients.
- Garnish the glass with a wheel or wedge of fresh lime. Serve immediately.
