Ingredients:
- 6 cups of apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
- 1 cup old-fashioned oats
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour (if using). Toss until the apples are well coated.
- Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly.
- Evenly spread the crisp topping over the apple filling.
- Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
