Ingredients:

  • 6 cups of apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour (optional, for thickening)
  • 1 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine sliced apples, sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and flour (if using). Toss until the apples are well coated.
  3. Transfer the apple mixture to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine oats, flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add melted butter and mix until crumbly.
  5. Evenly spread the crisp topping over the apple filling.
  6. Bake in preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and apples are bubbling.
  7. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
