Ingredients:
- 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
- 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon (6g) baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
- 1 cup (175g) dark chocolate chunks
- 1/2 cup (75g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Instructions:
- In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in dark chocolate chunks and nuts (if using).
- Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drop tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
