Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (226g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (200g) packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon (5g) vanilla extract
  • 3 cups (360g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon (6g) baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon (3g) salt
  • 1 cup (175g) dark chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup (75g) chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)

Instructions:

  1. In a large bowl, cream together softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla extract.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined. Fold in dark chocolate chunks and nuts (if using).
  5. Cover the dough and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  6. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Drop tablespoons of dough onto a lined baking sheet, spacing them evenly.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until edges are golden brown and centers are set.
  9. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
