Ingredients:
- 1 bunch Swiss chard (approximately 1 pound / 450 grams), stems removed and leaves chopped into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons olive oil (30 mL)
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon (about 2 tablespoons / 30 mL)
- Zest of 1 lemon (optional)
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
- Rinse the Swiss chard leaves under cold water. Remove the stems and chop them separately from the leaves.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
- Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using) to the oil. Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant—avoid burning.
- Add chopped Swiss chard stems first; sauté for 2 minutes. Next, add Swiss chard leaves; sauté for an additional 3-5 minutes until wilted.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice and zest.
- Transfer to a serving platter and sprinkle with Parmesan cheese, if desired.
