Ingredients:
- 1 cup (240g) active sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, softened
- 3/4 cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup (50g) granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp (5ml) vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose flour
- 1/2 tsp (3g) baking soda
- 1/2 tsp (3g) salt
- 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup (90g) chopped nuts (optional)
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Gently mix in the active sourdough starter until combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
- Pour the dough into the cast iron skillet, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set in the center.
- Allow to cool slightly, then serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped cream if desired.
