Ingredients:
- 1 lb (450g) fresh strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
- 1/4 cup (60 ml) water
- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 1 cup (240 ml) water
- 1 cup (240ml) freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 6-8 lemons)
- 4-6 cups (960-1440 ml) cold water, to taste
- Ice cubes
- Fresh strawberry slices and lemon wedges, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Make the Strawberry Puree: Combine strawberries and water in a blender. Blend until smooth. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve (optional) for an extra-smooth texture. Set aside.
- Make the Lemon Simple Syrup: Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar dissolves completely. Reduce heat and simmer for 1 minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly. Stir in the freshly squeezed lemon juice.
- Assemble the Lemonade: In a pitcher, combine the strawberry puree and the lemon simple syrup. Add 4 cups of cold water to start and stir well.
- Adjust to Taste: Taste and add more water to dilute the lemonade, or more lemon juice for a tartness kick, until it reaches your desired sweetness and strength.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or longer) to allow the flavors to meld. Serve over ice, garnished with strawberry slices and lemon wedges, if desired.
