Ingredients:

  • 4 salmon fillets, 6 oz each
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1/4 tsp cracked black pepper
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes

Instructions:

  1. Pat the salmon fillets completely dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a 12-inch cast iron skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high heat until it shimmers.
  3. Place fillets skin-side up. Sear for 3–5 minutes without moving them until a deep golden crust forms.
  4. Flip the fillets and sear for another 2 minutes.
  5. Reduce heat to medium. Pour the whisked honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, minced garlic, and red pepper flakes directly into the pan around the fish.
  6. As the sauce bubbles and thickens into a velvety syrup (about 2-3 minutes), use a spoon to continuously baste the top of the fillets.
  7. Remove from heat once the glaze clings to the fish.
  8. Let the fillets rest for 2 minutes before plating.
