Ingredients:
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 vanilla bean, split and scraped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- Chopped nuts, chocolate chips, or fruit (optional)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar. Whisk until sugar is dissolved (about 2-3 minutes).
- Heat the milk mixture in a saucepan over medium heat until it is warm (not boiling). Remove from heat and let it steep for 30 minutes.
- Transfer the mixture to a bowl, cover, and chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
- Pour the chilled mixture into the ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturers instructions (typically about 20 minutes).
- If youre adding mix-ins, fold them into the ice cream during the last few minutes of churning.
- Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for 4-6 hours, or until firm.
